Seabin units capture litter at strategic litter hotspots around Sydney Harbour.

Seabin units are installed at strategic locations in a marina, port or yacht club on both floating and fixed docks. The Seabins can filter up to 480 million litres of water per year — capturing plastic pollution, marine litter and microplastics daily.

Capture Litter

Marine litter is captured 24/7 — 365 days a year.

The Seabin monitoring technology runs 24/7 — 365 days per year. Each unit is serviced daily and can capture microplastics as small as 0.5mm in size.

Catalogue Data

Captured litter items are sorted, identified and catalogued.

The captured litter is taken to the Seabin science lab where it is processed, sorted and then catalogued using custom annotation software. A team of citizen scientists supports our Marine Scientist and data manager.

Data flows into the platform — visible to both our partners and the public.

Once the data is uploaded, our relational database powers live data dashboards that visually present the data to both the public and our partners.
