UP Sponsors Seabin in Manly Beach

Seabin is stoked to announce a new partnership with Up, one of Australia’s leading neobanks, to support Seabin’s mission to create a cleaner, more sustainable future for our oceans.

As a digital bank, Up has championed plastic-reduction with their digital Zap Cards- the primary means of payment for Up cardholders. Up have recently released a very carefully considered physical card: an environmentally-friendly option, forged from 82% recycled materials — packaged up and delivered in a recyclable mailer. In addition, $1 from every 2Up plastic card distributed, will go towards a partnership with Seabin – supporting cleaner oceans.

Up is sponsoring a new Seabin V5 unit in Manly Beach at the Manly Yacht Club. Up’s support will contribute to Seabin’s daily efforts in clean-up, data collection, community engagement, and education.

Anson Parker, Up’s Chief Product Officer, said “In March 2022, Up was the first Australian bank to go digital-by-default, making our plastic debit card an optional extra for all new Upsiders. And while we look forward to a world where plastic cards are unnecessary, there are still times today when they’re needed. For example, when traveling abroad to countries where contactless payments are not yet ubiquitous.”

Fallon White, Head of Global Partnerships at Seabin said “We are so excited to be supported by Up, the new kid on the banking block; challenging typical banking sector stereotypes and prioritising positive environmental impact. We look forward to engaging with their conscientious cardholders through the partnership and driving positive behavioural change in our communities.”

United by Yamaha – Cleaner Oceans Film

If you have not already seen the Yamaha Cleaner Oceans short film featuring Seabin, take a look.

We are incredibly humbled to share this short film, United by Yamaha: Cleaner Oceans, created by one of Seabin’s Major Sponsors: Yamaha Motor Australia.

It is such a privilege to work with partners who acknowledge the importance of our mission and the need to protect the environment that supports them, as a business.

Since partnering in 2021, Yamaha’s ongoing supports has helped us significantly scale our operations and impact, allowing us to collect over 100 tonnes of marine debris and filter 1.4 billion litres of water from Sydney’s waterways and our oceans, and expand our outreach.

The partnership between Seabin and Yamaha is a logical fit, Yamaha business is on the water and we are on the water. It’s about supporting the environment that supports you.

Thank you Yamaha Motor Australia!

Kingsplan Planet Passionate Day

Seabin was thrilled to celebrate Kingspan’s  inaugural, global Planet Passionate Day with a beach clean-up with the Kingspan Water + Energy team at Cabarita Beach in Sydney Harbour on Friday, 15th September. The day was filled with inspiring talks on plastic pollution, education on Seabin’s data process and cleaning up a wide variety of trash from the harbour beach. The team who volunteered on the day are from Smithfield, Sydney where they manufacture made-to-measure steel water tanks.

The Planet Passionate program is Kingspan’s 10-year Group-wide sustainability program, that aims to impact on three big global issues: climate change, circularity and protection of our natural world. The program encompasses a wide range of initiatives aimed at improving energy usage, carbon emissions, circularity of waste and water clean-up.

Seabin is stoked to help support Kingspan with their Planet Passionate Program, particularly around their Water objectives.

We value working with partners like Kingspan who align with Seabin through their vision of a cleaner, more sustainable world. Kingspan has set an inspiring example for the industry and encourages others to prioritize environmental initiatives in their operations.
